Vegetable Lasagna
Everybody knows that fruits and vegetables are good for us. It is also no secret that we need exercise to keep in shape. Also, we all know that heavy industrialized food (the kind that comes canned or packaged and takes 5 minutes to prepare) is filled with chemicals and doesn’t have the nutrients that our bodies need.
Even so, many people still keep eating junk food, gaining weight, and getting illnesses and diseases related to bad eating habits. Why is that?
I don’t claim to have the answer, but I think it has a lot to do with our lifestyles. A while ago, families used to be closer and lived together longer. The mother would have a light job and would prepare meals for the whole family.
Today, for better or for worst (that is not for me to decide), families live more separated, and young people get independent sooner. In addition, marriages don’t last forever, like they used to. Finally, many people have to move far from their places of origin in order to get a better job. Because of this, there are a lot of people who live by themselves and work all day and don’t have time to prepare a good meal.
Fortunately, healthy food, such as vegetarian food, isn’t difficult to prepare. It is also very tasty. For example, vegetable lasagna is delicious and it isn’t as difficult to make as meat lasagna.
Vegetable lasagna is also very flexible when it comes to the quantity to prepare. You can prepare a very small vegetable lasagna for yourself, or a big one for your guests. If prepared for a formal dinner, it can be an entrée, a garnish, or the main dish.
In addition, vegetable lasagna is very easy to prepare because you can pretty much put any combination of vegetables in it. Common ingredients in a vegetable lasagna include chopped eggplant, onions, celery, mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, artichokes, etc. You can also experiment by putting your favorite vegetables in your vegetable lasagna.
In addition, vegetable lasagna lasts longer than meat lasagna. So, if you didn’t finish your portions, you can just keep it in the fridge and then warm it up in the microwave. Just take a bite of the cheese first. If it is ok, then the vegetable lasagna is good for consumption.
In conclusion, cooking vegetable lasagna is a small challenge, but it is very tasty and it can feed you for days, so the effort is really made only once.
