Vegetable Seeds
Gardens are one of the most beautiful accessories in a house or buildings. Green and nature always makes us feel relaxed and at easy, specially to those of us who live in very urban settings. Moreover, a lot of people find gardening a very fun and rewarding activity, and don’t consider it work at all.
However, gardens can also be very practical and useful, aside from being pretty. With many people turning away from heavily processed and industrialized food, home vegetable gardens are becoming a very feasible option to get fresh vegetables that don’t contain any chemicals. And a nice side effect is that groceries bills will be cut a bit.
In addition, growing vegetables in one’s home is much easier than what most people think. A common misconception is that people who live in apartments can’t grow their own vegetables because they lack a piece of land to grow them in. While it’s true that growing vegetables in a piece of land will give you better results, growing them in containers is also a feasible solution for people who have limited space or who don’t have access to land.
Whether you grow vegetables in a small parcel, some piece of land in your backyard, or in a container, the process is quite easy.
First of all, you need to decide which vegetable seeds you will get. If it’s your first vegetable garden, then go with vegetable seeds that are easy to grow. The easiest to grow of all vegetable seeds are tomatoes. If you ask around, you’ll find that tomatoes are recommended a lot for beginners because they practically grow themselves.
Other vegetable seeds that are recommended for beginners are peppers, carrots, oregano, green beans, basil, and others. Since they’re inexpensive, you can get several packs of vegetable seeds, according to how many types of vegetables you want to grow. However, it’s recommended that you try to grow just a few at the beginning.
Aside from the vegetable seeds, you’ll need potting soil. Just prepare the soil in the container or over the parcel you pant to use. If the soil is dry, water it so that it gets moist. Then, with your finger, make some holes that are big enough for the vegetable seeds. After you set all the vegetable seeds, just use your hands to cover them with the surrounding soil.
That’s practically it! Just water them once in a while, depending on the needs of the types of vegetable seeds that you planted (that’s why it’s better to get a few at first, it’ll make the watering easier), and in no time, you’ll be able to use your own home grown vegetables to prepare salads and other dishes.
